Thursday, February 23rd, 5-6 PM: SEEDS Hunger Banquet
SEEDS invites students, staff, and faculty to join us for dinner in the GCCs as we simulate and discuss world hunger and food distribution. This is a great opportunity to model and reflect on learning done in the classroom about hunger as well as to engage in discussions of service right here on campus. Space limited to 50, so RSVP now to Amina Rahman. With support from Bon Appetit. We hope you can join us!
Saturday, February 25th, 12-4 PM: SEEDS and SCRAP(s): Adventures in Creative Reuse
Interested in recycled art, DIY projects, and amazing salvaged surprises?
At SCRAP, such endeavors are the order of the day. This local nonprofit seeks to inspire creative reuse and environmentally sustainable practices by providing educational programs and affordable materials to the wider Portland community. This February, you have a chance to be involved! On the 25th, SEEDS will venture to Northeast Portland for a day of service at this amazing retail center. As we help sort reused materials for resale, we'll learn about the environmental ideals of SCRAP and its various programs, such as "Fill Minds Not Landfills". Last year, SCRAP diverted 115 tons of usable materials from the waste stream, and it will be awesome to contribute to this year's effort. Tasty snacks will also be provided by SEEDS. Saturday, March 3rd, 9 AM-1 PM: SEEDS at Watershed Wide
For the second year in a row, SEEDS is joining the Johnson Creek Watershed Council for a day of habitat restoration right in our backyard. Volunteers throughout Portland will be working at over 10 sites all across the city planting trees, removing invasive species, and celebrating local ecologies. A tasty volunteer lunch will the provided by the Watershed Council. Contact Emily Crotteau, for more information or accommodations, or to sign up.
