SEEDS: Students for Education, Empowerment, & Direct Service
LASER: Lane After School Education with Reed
Founded as the Reed-Tubman Partnership
This year we moved our middle school partnership to nearby Lane Middle School, but the foundational ideas of the partnership remain.
The original Tubman partnership founders recognized that Reed students, as members of a socially and academically elite community, have access to resources, skills, and privileges that Harriet Tubman students do not.
The partnership hopes to provide Lane students with otherwise unavailable classroom assistance, desired and consistent after-school classes, and one-on-one mentor relationships. Reed students are given the opportunity to gain valuable firsthand teaching experience while forging and sustaining important connections with the greater Portland community.
Coordinators: Charli Krause, Maggie Booth and Kelsey Lucas
