  • Language scholars Reed has native speakers in residence in each of the five language houses who are well qualified and enthusiastic about helping students learn their respective language (Russian, French, Spanish, Chinese, and German).

  • Individual academic coaching by Academic Support staff gives students a chance to develop goals and improve the skills needed for college success.  You can discuss study skills, learning styles, time management, test anxiety, procrastination, and academic stress.  Contact Julie Maxfield for details. The staff in the Dean of Students Office also works closely with students and their faculty concerning registration, leaves of absence, withdrawals, course overloads and underloads, academic standing, and probationary status.

  • Wellness Coaching is intended to help students envision and improve their overall health. Discussions focus on areas of desired improvement and goals associated with these areas. The wellness coach helps students to develop an individual plan to reach goals and stay motivated when normal distractions and barriers arise. Topics that might be addressed in wellness coaching include: healthy eating, physical activity, relationship issues, and stress management. Using the tenets of positive psychology as well as other behavioral health research, wellness coaching focuses on students' strengths and from there, helps build bridges to a healthier future. To schedule an appointment for wellness coaching, contact Rachel Wagner directly at wagnerr@reed.edu.
