TTT: January 19, 2012

Gather this month at TTT to plan your trip back to campus for Reedfayre '12, May 30-June 3. Centennial Reunions last year was a great party with every class year from 1940 to 2011 represented. We thought we would do it again to close out Reed's centennial year. Online registration is now live, so sign up for Reedfayre '12 today!

RSVP if you can. Hosts really appreciate knowing how many people are coming, so they know how big of a table to save. But if you're not sure, come anyway. If there's not an event near you, but you would like to get one started, send an email to alumni@reed.edu.

  • Phoenix—Special date: January 27, starts at 6 p.m.

Time to get the Reed Alumni Ultimate Frisbee team prepped for its big tournament in Phoenix over the weekend of January 27-29, and we are kicking things off with our version of a pep rally on Friday, January 27, 6-8:30 p.m..

The team will be at the Four Peaks Brewery to meet local alumni, sign autographs, and consume tournament-appropriate libations. Mike Teskey, director of alumni relations, will be there to toast the team and to buy a round of appetizers for Reedies who show up. This will be a great opportunity to meet other area alumni and to get the intrepid warriors psyched up for their weekend battle (please forgive the obligatory bellicose sports language).

  • Portola Valley (Palo Alto)—starts at 6 p.m.

Join fellow south peninsula-area Reedies at a classic location. The Alpine Inn (née Zot's) is a relaxed beer and burger joint in Portola Valley, which is easy to get to from I-280. Weather permitting, we meet in the back outside at a table near the fence closest to the parking lot.

Look for the purple stuffed Griffin and/or Reed pennant on the table. We have a few regulars and a larger number of fascinating Reedies who drop in once or infrequently.

Directions: Take Alpine Road west from I-280 for two miles. Take a left on Arastradero and an immediate right into the parking lot. There is a clearly marked left turn lane here, it is a unique feature. Proceed very carefully: visibility is poor and bicyclists abound. If you hit Portola Road on the right, you've gone too far.

Keep an eye out for cyclists!

You can get anything from oysters to duck to lamb (and jerked veggies, for our vegetarian friends), top it with some Jamaican paw paw hot sauce, and you're good to go.
