The weekend retreat at Camp Westwind for alumni and their families will
be October 15-17, 2010. This event is sponsored by the Portland alumni
chapter, but it is open to Reedies from all over. Join alumni from a
variety of eras and swap Olde Reed stories and songs in a beautiful forested
setting on the Oregon coast. A limited number of reduced-rate spaces
are available for kitchen and cleaning crew people. Learn more on our

Russia tour
January 8-23, 2011
The Russian department is sponsoring its eighth-annual Russian tour provisionally scheduled for January 8-23, 2011. This year we will visit the great capitals of Moscow and St. Petersburg with their vibrant contemporary life and extraordinary museums, concert halls, and historical sites, and also make overnight trips to the beautiful medieval towns of Sergiev Posad, Suzdal, and Vladimir east of Moscow, and Novgorod the Great and Staraya Russa south of St. Petersburg.
Besides a carefully designed itinerary of exceptional interest, charm, and value, the tour will include lectures on Russian history, literature, and art by Lena Lencek, professor of Russian & humanities at Reed, and the tour leader, former Reed Russian professor Judson Rosengrant and by local scholars and specialists. The tour requires no knowledge of the Russian language and is open to anyone interested in learning first hand about Russia's rich history and vital place in the modern world.
