Sample Interview Report: Very Supportive

Jane would be an amazing asset to Reed, she is smart, driven, creative, self motivated, and mature. She was bright and interesting. She seemed to know a lot about Reed, she was informed about the humanities courses, and excited about the thesis process. She liked the open learning environment, and the discussion based courses. She has had a lot of experience with that in her current experience at prep school. She said that she had read a lot about schools and Reed seemed to have a lot of what she wanted a school to offer. She is also applying to other top notch schools, I can't remember all 10, but some are Brown, University of Pennsylvania, Emery, Berkeley, UC Santa Cruz, Oberlin, and others.

She is a creative kind of person, she writes short stories, poems, and essays. She brought an absolutely amazing project that she had worked on at school where she has researched Basquiat, and created an interpretive book of his works, inspired works, and influences of his contemporaries. She had put words to a Cole Porter song as if he had been writing about Basquiat. I was blown away. She loves being involved had spent a month living in China working at an orphanage and learning Chinese. She is half Chinese and half Caucasian, and so she was seeking a connection with her mother's culture as well.

Reed would be lucky to have her. She mentioned that her family was on significant financial aid at her prep school, and I would assume the same would be true at Reed. She also mentioned that in the middle of her junior year she took a short medical leave from Exeter to take care of something at home with her family (perhaps her dad or mom was ill) and she attended school in her local school for a short time. I think these are things that should not effect her admission; she would be a wonderful addition to Reed.
