Reed College Canyon
Canyon Day
![]() |
Canyon Day is the semi-annual event where members of the Reed Community join together for a day of work to help protect and restore the canyon. |
|
|
Early Canyon Days involved raking leaves, burning debris, and attempting to make the canyon into a park. More recently, the focus of Canyon Day has been on protecting and restoring the natural vegetation to make the canyon a better habitat for urban wildlife. You can read more about how the event has changed over the years on our Canyon Day History page. Fall Canyon Day - October 27, 2007Help Reed College bring back native plant habitat and enhance water quality at the headwaters of Crystal Springs creek. Join your friends within the Reed community to plant native trees and shrubs. The event is free and open to anyone; tools, training, food, and fun will be provided. Dress for the weather, and bring gloves if you have them. Find your peers anytime between 9 a.m.–3 p.m.; meet us in the canyon between Vollum College Center and the physics building. Hosted by Reed College. For more information email perryz@reed.edu or call 503-572-8636. |
