Constitution Day Simulcast
Constitution Day Simulcast
Monday, September 17 is Constitution Day, a day so named by Congress which mandates that all publicly funded educational institutions provide some sort of program related to the history of our Constitution on that day. This year, Reed is partnering with Seton Hall University and participating in a simulcast presentation entitled: Interrogation as a Means of Intelligence Gathering. The website for the simulcast is: http://law.shu.edu/constitutionday/
The day's events run from 10:30am – 2:30pm (Pacific Time) in GCC C & D. The simulcast includes introductory remarks from Dr. Mark Denbeaux and a series of panels and presentations 15 to 45 minutes in length which explore the relationship between the Constitution, international law and interrogation. Feel free to bring your lunch, sit in on a presentation and come and go as you please. A full schedule of the panels and presentations included in the simulcast is available here: http://law.shu.edu/constitutionday/schedule.html
Of particular note is the involvement of Darius Rejali, Reed Professor of Political Science and internationally-known expert in torture in this year's Constitution Day observance. He will be involved in two segments of the day's events: a brief discussion, "Torture and Criminal Justice" from 11:00am-11:45 (Pacific Time) and a panel "National Security Interrogation Techniques: Guantanamo and Beyond" from 1:45pm-2:30.
