Join Drs. Lloyd Olson, '57, a former Pediatrician-in-Chief at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, and David Shute, MD, an internist, who is the medical director of OMPRO, Oregon’s Medicare Quality Improvement Organization, in a conference-type discussion on matters of importance to the fields of health care.  The general topic this session will be public health.

David Shute, MD, an internist, is the medical director of OMPRO, Oregon’s Medicare Quality Improvement Organization. He joined OMPRO in 1999 as a clinical coordinator for the Health Care Quality Improvement Program, and served as OMPRO’s interim CEO from 2002–2003. He has assisted numerous organizations in implementing the Chronic Care Model (CCM) as director and quality improvement adviser of the Oregon Diabetes Collaboratives and director of the Oregon Rural Collaborative. Dr. Shute currently serves as teaching faculty at Legacy Clinic Good Samaritan in Portland, Oregon. He has also served as faculty for the American College of Physicians patient safety trainings.
 
Dr. Shute received his undergraduate and medical training from the University of Illinois. After completing a residency in internal medicine at OHSU in 1987, he practiced primary care medicine in Portland for 11 years.
