Winter Break Career & Internship Fairs!

Winter Break Career & Internship Fairs!
Deadline to upload resumes: Monday, December 1, 2008

In cooperation with other institutions, Reed College Career Services  invites you to participate in Career and Internship Connections (CICs) in major U.S. cities over winter break.  If you happen to be in or near Boston, New York City, Washington, D.C., Chicago, or Los Angeles in early January, this is an opportunity to register (now!), upload your resumes (before Dec. 1!), and apply (by Dec 1!) for actual positions, as well as network with employers at events in those cities (in January).

Event dates:

Boston - January 5th

West Coast (Los Angeles) - January 6th

Washington, DC - January 7th

Midwest (Chicago) - January 8th

New York - January 9th

Registering for the events early means you’ll get updated information on the events, employers attending, and jobs posted. You can also create search agents to send you postings in particular cities and/or fields.

This year's PASSWORD TOKEN is "cic2009".  (To get started, select "create an account" in the "student" box in the upper left corner here:  http://cic.erecruiting.com/er/security/login.jsp)  For more detailed instructions, see http://www.rochester.edu/careercenter/students/cic/index.html and click on the registration tutorial.

Registration is now open!! Visit http://www.rochester.edu/careercenter/students/cic/index.html and click on the cities to get the lists of companies registered thus far. As always, career services is ready to assist as you create resumes, navigate the CIC web system and prepare for CIC interviews.

What are the Career and Internship Connections (CICs)? Why should I go?
    •      CICs are career events in NYC, DC, Chicago, Boston and Los Angeles held over the January break.
    •     The events have a morning career fair open to all undergraduates from the consortium schools and afternoon pre-arranged interviews (that you apply for AHEAD of time - by 12/1).
    •     Many of these employers will not be traveling to your home campus, but will be happy to meet with you in their local city. These events are an excellent opportunity to network and interview face-to-face with prospective internship and full-time employers.

What's the process? How is the day organized?
    •     The days are broken up into TWO parts - A morning career fair (9:00-11:30am) open to all students from consortium schools and afternoon interviews (12:15-5pm).
    •     Apply for pre-screened interviews by uploading and submitting your resume to individual jobs by Monday, December 1, 2008 via the CIC Web site, http://cic.erecruiting.com/.
    •     During the morning career fair, ALL students (with or without interviews) can connect with employers to obtain information about their organization and available internships and full-time job opportunities.
    •      Some employers may leave room on their interview schedules and add students based on their morning interactions.
