Schmoozing* is Good for Your Brain! (Junior/ Senior/ Alumni Networking)
Friday, September 26, 2008 3:30 - 5 PM
New Commons Cafe

Alumni volunteers and board members will be on campus this weekend; take advantage of this opportunity to meet and learn from fellow Reedies.  Networking will help you narrow your list of occupations or graduate school options, and is essential to your successful job search.  Start practicing your skills in a comfortable environment with alumni who are excited to meet you!

Light refreshments will be served.  Bios of participating alumni will be shared with juniors and seniors who RSVP by Monday, September 22 (send e-mail to Brooke Hunter, hunterb, to reserve your spot!).  To learn more about networking and informational interviewing, or to make a plan for getting the most out of this event, e-mail career.services@reed.edu to schedule an appointment.

Not sure how to network?  Attend our workshop from 4:30-6PM on Wednesday, September 24 in Vollum Lounge.

*Michigan researchers say they've found that shooting the bull with friends has measurable benefits for the brain, keeping it sharp in later life. "Most advice for preserving and enhancing mental function emphasizes intellectual activities such as reading, doing crossword puzzles, and learning how to use a computer," says the lead researcher. "But my research suggests that just getting together and chatting with friends and family may also be effective."
