Deleting Items from Your CatalogDeleting items from a catalog is much simpler than adding them. There are three ways to do it, and all of them work very similarly. First, you can select an item and press the Backspace or Delete key. This will, by default, delete the selected item from the currently open gallery, but you can change this if you like via the Preferences window. Note that if you choose the Deletes From Catalog option via the Preferences window, you should also toggle the Confirm Delete From Catalog option (toggled by default), so that anytime you try to delete an item from the catalog, Portfolio will ask for confirmation before proceeding. Second,
you can select an item or items and press the Delete button ( ![]() Third, you can select items and then choose Item > Delete.... You will get the same confirmation request as with the other methods. Deleting from the catalog is of course different from deleting from the gallery. To better understand the difference between a catalog and a gallery, see Basic Users: Galleries. Deleting an item from a gallery will not delete the item from the catalog; you will also have to save the gallery (see below) to make the change permanent. On the other hand, deleting an item from a catalog will delete that item from every gallery it was in, and you will not need to (or be able to) save after deleting from a catalog. Deleting from the catalog is permanent! There are ways to slightly alter the way Portfolio responds to requests to delete items.
