Galleries and How to Use Them

Galleries in Portfolio are remarkably similar to galleries in a museum. Think of them as exhibits for the records in a catalog. Users with higher-level access to a catalog can collect select records into their own, customized galleries for display, research, and ease of browsing. Reader-level users can sift through the galleries in a catalog to find specifically arranged sets of records.

To browse the galleries in a catalog, you need to display a gallery list by choosing Window > Show Galleries. The window that appears will list all of the galleries available in the currently selected catalog. You can open a gallery in a new window by selecting its name in the list and clicking the Open button below the list, or by double-clicking its name. Note that in Reader mode, users cannot save changes to galleries or make their own galleries. Still, Portfolio may prompt you to save changes if you inadvertently alter a gallery when browsing it.
