Reed Web Design
CIS has been working closely with the public affairs office and members of the web policy committee to create a new Reed web design. This design retains the essential navigational structure of the current Reed home page, while providing a number of improvements:
- Search and other frequently-used links are located in the page header, making it easier to jump between sites without going back to the home page;
- Better use of the screen’s horizontal dimensions and space for larger pictures (to help prospective students and parents “see Reed” if they can’t visit);
- There is more space for seasonal and rotating content on the home page;
- A department-level page design facilitates consistency while providing flexibility;
- The new design will allow us to take advantage of the features offered by the CMS.
View mockups of the new design here. Explore a working version of Reed’s newest department here.
The new Reed design will go into place on the home page, most secondary pages, and the News Center in early August.
Please feel free to contact either of us if you have questions or suggestions.
