Visiting Assistant Professor of History and Humanities
The History Department of Reed College invites applications for a one-year visiting appointment in East Asian History and Chinese Humanities. The department is especially interested in candidates whose specialty is early modern or modern Chinese or Japanese history. In addition to courses in one's own area, the appointee will also teach in a team-taught year-long interdisciplinary course in Chinese Humanities. Teaching duties include advising year-long senior theses. Reed College is a small, distinguished undergraduate institution with a strong liberal arts curriculum, committed to excellence in teaching and scholarship, with particular stress on teaching critical historical reading and writing. Applicants should have the Ph.D. in hand by August 2010. We expect to make the appointment at the assistant professor level.
