Tenure-Track Position in Linguistics

Reed College seeks applications for a tenure-track position in Linguistics, to commence August 2010. Candidates should have a strong teaching and research specialization in two or more of the following areas: sociolinguistics, computational linguistics, discourse analysis, anthropological linguistics, historical linguistics, language contact, and the structure of an under-documented language or language family. Experience in phonetic analysis, field methods, and/or experimental methods is also highly desirable. PhD or ABD in Linguistics required.

Reed is a selective, undergraduate-only liberal arts institution with a commitment to teaching excellence and scholarship. The appointee will join a small but comprehensive undergraduate linguistics department and offer five semester courses per year, including one of the department’s two introductory courses (Introduction to Language, Culture, and Society). The position also involves supervising yearlong senior thesis projects on a wide array of research topics within linguistics.
