To get an estimate of how much your family will be expected to contribute toward your educational expenses for one year, use the College Board's on-line calculators. Your expected family contribution at Reed may vary somewhat from the results of these calculators due to institutional policies. More information about determining your financial need is available in the Financial Aid Handbook.

Applying for Financial Aid 2010-11

  • File the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).  The 2010-11 FAFSA will be available January 1st, 2010. Please note that you can initially file the FAFSA with estimated 2009 information which will be corrected at a later date.
  • File the College Scholarship Service PROFILE.  The 2010-11 CSS Profile will be available October 1st, 2009.  Please note that you can file the CSS Profile with estimated 2009 information which will be corrected at a later date.
  • Freshman and transfers should submit the Noncustodial PROFILE, if applicable. If parents are divorced or separated, only the parent (and stepparent, if remmarried) that the student lived with the most in the past 12 months should complete the PROFILE.  However, Reed expects both parents to assist in financing a student's education, therefore, the student's noncustodial parent must complete the Noncustodial PROFILE (NCP).
  • Submit copies of your and your parents' 2009 income tax returns, W-2 and 1099 statements to the financial aid office at Reed College.
  • Freshman and transfers should submit the Reed Financial Aid Form (pdf) to the financial aid office at Reed College.
  • International (non Canadian) students should download a copy of the International Student Financial Aid Application and the International Student Certification of Finances and submit them to the Reed Financial Aid Office by the same deadlines as domestic students.  Canadian students should file the College Scholarship Service PROFILE.
