Cooley Gallery director Stephanie Snyder initiated the Case Works program in 2004 as
a means for exhibiting outstanding small-scale works by some of the region's best artists. The cases
are sited
in Reeds
Hauser Memorial Library, in the center of the first floor reading room. The cases were donated to
Reed by John and Betty Gray. When not featuring contemporary art, the cases display small-scale
sculpturessuch
as exemplary Pre-Columbian artifactsthat were also generous gifts to Reed from John and Betty
Gray. Case Works inaugural exhibition season is dedicated to Betty Grays many achievements
on behalf of the arts at Reed.
The Hauser Memorial Library is open to the public during the school year (beginning August
29) from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Sunday. The Library is closed for certain holidays. Library hours may be confirmed on the web at: LIBRARY HOURS.
