Giving to Reed

The Centennial Challenge

Alumni Challenge Met

In celebration of Reed's approaching centennial, Trustee Linda Hammill Matthews '67 established the Centennial Challenge to inspire alumni to stretch their support for the college. Alumni responded with first-time and increased gifts and, by the end of December, their gifts triggered the full $100,000 matching gift from Matthews.

Thank you for making the alumni Centennial Challenge a remarkable success!

Parent Challenge Continues

In the fall, Reed's Parent Council extended the Centennial Challenge to parents. As of December 31, 2007, more than 80 parents had responded to the challenge making almost $50,000 in qualifying gifts. Parents still have the opportunity to take advantage of the parent Centennial Challenge. Here's how:

Renewing parent donors
When you increase your support to the next donor society, the amount of your increase will qualify for a 100% match. For example, when you increase your gift from $1,000 (Griffin Society) to $1,911 (the new 1911 Society), the Centennial Challenge will match the $911 increase.

New parent donors
Your gifts will be matched in full.

The parent Centennial Challenge extends to parent gifts of $1 to $4,999. If your last gift was made before July 1, 2002, you will be considered a new parent donor for the purpose of this match.

Your steadfast annual support is critically important to Reed. Even if you are unable to meet the Centennial Challenge at this time, your contribution is vital to Reed's future. Thank you for your gift.

If you cannot recall the amount of your last gift, send an email to annual-fund@reed.edu with your full name, and we will refresh your memory.
