Ways of Giving: Cash/Check, Credit Card, and Stock
Gifts by Cash/Check
A personal check is a simple way to make a gift. Checks should be made out to Reed College and mailed to:

Gifts by Credit Card
Many alumni and friends choose to have their gift charged to a VISA, Discover, American Express, or MasterCard account. You may make a credit card gift online over a secure browser, or call toll-free 877/865-1469 and speak with the Office of College Relations.
Gifts of Stock
To give stock held by your broker or commercial banker:
- Notify your broker or commercial banker in writing that you are giving securities to Reed College. You may use our sample authorization letter (.doc).
The stock should be transferred into the college's Merrill Lynch account:

The "date of gift" is the date the securities are no longer under the control of the donor, e.g. when the security is deposited in Reed's Merrill Lynch or other brokerage account or when a stock certificate is actually issued in Reed's name. The valuation of the gift is determined as the mean average of the high and low quoted prices on the date of gift.
