Dean of Admission

Witt/Kieffer Executive Search is undertaking a recruitment process to identify talented candidates for consideration for the Dean of Admission.  (Information below is excerpted from Witt/Kieffer.com)
Reporting to the college's president and building on the momentum of multiple years of improvement in overall enrollment success, the dean will oversee an admission program that is informed by and true to the distinctive nature of this highly intellectual community of scholars. The dean will be an experienced and successful admission professional and skilled manager committed to liberal education and knowledgeable of best practices nationally, who possesses keen communication and relationship-building skills, and who is capable of leading a staff and program that is highly integrated, profoundly productive and stems from and reflects the values of the institution.
Reed's new admission dean will be an integral and deeply engaged member of the Reed community, someone who values transparency, institutional integrity and an egalitarian environment and who will possess:
* Enthusiasm for a selection process that seeks intellectually-oriented students who have both the desire and capacity to benefit from and contribute to an intensely academic program that celebrates, above all, the life of the mind;
* An abiding interest in doing the right thing by students and by the college within the framework of robust yet finite resources, and a commitment to placing student welfare and fit above standard measures of admission success such as admit rates and yield;
* The ability to enter into an ongoing, institution-wide conversation about inclusiveness and diversity that leads to tangible results, as well as a track record of enhancing the diversity of a student body;
* A strong desire to partner with yet be separate from a financial aid program that is entirely need based and that employs neither differential packaging, merit aid, nor explicit maximization of net tuition revenues;
* A love of college admission work and of interacting with exceptionally bright students; an ability to inspire and lead a strong and dedicated admission staff in their work and to welcome actively the efforts of members of the broader Reed community in helping achieve admission goals; and
* A resonance with and deep understanding of all that Reed is and represents.

Recruitment will continue until the position has been filled. Nominations, expressions of interest and applications (including a cover letter and resume) should be submitted via email to Reed-Adm@wittkieffer.com.
An Equal Opportunity Employer, Reed College values diversity and encourages applications from members of underrepresented groups.
