Director of Human Resources


Reed College, located in Portland, Oregon, is a highly selective, private liberal arts college.  Reed offers an outstanding and rigorous education in the liberal arts and sciences to undergraduates.  The college’s strong national reputation attracts a talented student body numbering over 1,200 from across the country and abroad.  The college employs about 160 faculty and 340 staff; the Human Resources staff includes 2 full-time professional positions and 2 part-time administrative support positions.  The Director of Human Resources is a member of the Vice President/Treasurer’s leadership team. 

The Director is a generalist with broad, hands-on responsibilities for planning and budgeting, compensation and benefits administration, staff development, organizational design, performance management, employee relations, labor relations, legal issues, policies and procedures, systems and records, and collaboration with professional colleagues both within and outside the college.  A significant aspect of the job is advising, coaching, counseling, facilitating, and problem solving with employees at all levels of the organization.

Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in human resources management or related field, certified with the Society for Human Resource Management as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), and ten years progressively responsible human resources experience including supervision.
