Registrar/Program Coordinator, Art Gallery
The Douglas F. Cooley Memorial Art Gallery, the professional visual arts exhibition venue at Reed College, seeks a museum experienced Registrar and Program Coordinator. Reed College, located in Portland, Oregon, is one of the country’s leading private, highly selective liberal arts colleges.
The ideal candidate will be one who is highly organized, technologically proficient, and communicative. This is a full-time appointment with benefits. Successful candidates will have extensive experience cataloguing, managing and handling a modestly sized diverse collection of works of art, and interacting with various groups on campus who will access the collection. Individuals must also have excellent skills in database technology, and other Mac-based programs such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Word. Experience with Dreamweaver, CSS, xhtml, information architecture, and content management systems a plus. Ability to maintain a positive outlook and equilibrium under pressure is essential, and the candidate must receive direction well. Must have keen skills in undertaking multiple projects concurrently, consistently meeting due dates and deadlines, and communicating work progress.
Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Library Science or Art History (or related) with 5+ years professional experience in museum registration, or equivalent education and experience to meet the essential elements of this role.
