Assistant Dean of Students for Residence Life

Reed College seeks an Assistant Dean of Students for Residence Life. This is a full-time position.  The Assistant Dean provides overall leadership to Reed College’s Residence Life department and is responsible for the operation and administration of the on-campus residence halls and apartments. Responsibilities include selection, training, supervision and evaluation of professional staff, coordination of departmental long-range strategic planning, implementation of all Residence Life policies and procedures and leadership for robust programming to promote community and a healthy campus culture. The Assistant Dean will provide management of Residence Life staff response to crisis events, implementation of department assessment and evaluation, administration of departmental budget, fiscally sound facility management practices, participation in college and division committees, involvement in night and weekend on-call duties, and communication with students, staff, faculty and parents regarding questions and concerns.  

The Assistant Dean of Students for Residence Life reports to the Associate Dean of Students for Student and Campus life.

Qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate multicultural competence, highly developed interpersonal skills and experience and facility in supervising new professionals. The successful applicant will also demonstrate a record of strategic planning, and collaboration and execution of actions and initiatives that demonstrate a professional commitment to issues relating to diversity.  The division of Student Services values diversity and encourages applications from underrepresented groups.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in college student personnel, student affairs, counseling or related field and 5 years of relevant experience required, and/or any combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job.
