ANDREW W. MELLON FELLOWSHIPS IN HUMANISTIC STUDIES

The Mellon Foundation selects 95 winners from nearly 800 applicants who plan to pursue advanced study in such fields as art history, anthropology, classics, comparative literature, English, history, and philosophy. The awards provide financial support for the first year of graduate study at any U.S. or Canadian graduate school with a stipend plus tuition and mandated fees. The prime objective of the Mellon Fellowship is to identify and encourage those who are committed to teaching and have a broad vision of learning. A graduating senior or a college graduate who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and who is applying for the first time to a program leading to the Ph.D. in a humanistic field, is eligible.
