International Student Services
International Student Advisory Board
The International Student Advisory Board (ISAB) brings together Reedies from around the world to share their international experiences.
We...
CREATE opportunities to interact outside the classroom and dorm environment (we understand how tricky that can be at Reed!). Last year we led weekend off-campus trips, for example, to Dairy Queen, Bubble Tea, Saturday Market and the Bins.
FACILITATE events to share perspectives and engage in Reed-esque Conversations whilst partaking of Coffee and Cookies (our famous C3s). Last year, we organized on-campus discussions of international issues both serious and playful, with topics like Arranged Marriage and "Does your mom do your laundry?"
CELEBRATE international diversity at Reed. Last year, we organized and successfully ran Reed's first International Festival. This event included stage performances by Reedies showcasing international music and dance, and food from around the world.

A lust for food is part of my cultural make up. The awkward small talk and a propensity to watch and delight over the complexities of asian drama serials are just, well, undeniable parts of who I am. When I'm home sick, I google pictures of local culinary delights and stare at them longingly. When I'm procrastinating, I do google videos of cookie-cutter asian drama series and watch at them with very much the same enthusiasm. As part of ISAB I do hope to meet all you lovely people, learn new things and foster a deeper appreciation for our many social identities (be it as students, as reedies or as part of a larger cultural framework). If you see me around, do try and engage me in awkward small/big talk. I sure could use the practice. Cheers! |

I love traveling and discovering new places, documenting their beauty on film and may actually have been getting off campus to explore Portland a little too much. I also live to eat, and would spend a lot more time in the kitchen if I could. I sincerely believe that we are well placed in our Reed community to meet people from all walks of life and am hoping that ISAB can help facilitate such interaction. So please let us know if you have any suggestions for what the international community here at Reed can do! |

Hey fellas! I am Jason from Burma. I am a sophomore political science major. I grew up in Burma and spent most of my life there. Made connections with Japanese, Taiwanese, American, and Southeast Asian friends while I was preparing for college, and now expanding my network to other continents as well, Africa, Europe, and Latin America. (I wish I have some friends from Antartica, but unfortunately...) |

Serving in the ISAB, I have a vision to provide my fellow international students with more opportunities to engage in Reed community, and experience multiculturalism and global citizenship, which I believe to be foundations of one better world. I am interested in calligraphy, classical music, religious thought, and exotic topics (like UFOs!). I also love to talk with you fellas. Feel free to greet me, contact me, or talk to me!! |

Johee Bang Hello, my name is Joohee Bang and I'm from South Korea. I'm a freshman and I'm thinking about majoring in Math-Econ. I got to know about Reed through my highschool counselor and I'm currently enjoying my life as a Reedie. |

Since I became part of Reed from such a far place, I wished to be more involved and to contribute to Reed's diversity. I'm really happy to be part of ISAB and I hope to create a lot of opportunities to help international students enjoy their life at Reed! |
