Amnesty International
Amnesty International (AI) is a worldwide grassroots activist organization that works to free prisoners of conscience; gain fair trials for political prisoners; end torture, political killings, and disappearances; and abolish the death penalty. At Reed, AI endeavors to protect basic human rights through letter writing campaigns, educating, and bringing human rights activists to speak on campus.

DIY ALANA Studies
Recognizing a gap in the curricular offerings at Reed, the Do-It-Yourself ALANA Studies student group collaborates with faculty from a variety of departments to develop talks and workshops that analyze and explore identities of color. DIY ALANA Studies offers programs and events that foster discussion and debate, while affirming the cultures of communities of color.
Feminist Student Union
Feminist Student Union (FSU) is an organization for persons of all genders to engage in discussion and organize events related to gender, sexuality, sexism, and the promotion of social change. FSU coordinates Women's Week, Speak-Out and discussion groups, and brings artists, performers, and speakers to campus. FSU is NOT about man-bashing, but understanding and R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
-ism
-ism is designed to offer students a mechanism to gain the skills to facilitate and engage in ongoing conversations that address issues of social change with administrative support. The goal of -ism is to acknowledge the complexities of intersecting oppressions and to provide platforms for recognizing the potential of every Reed student to engage in difficult conversations. The skills and learning done within this group are expected to contribute to institutional efforts to create discreet and overt opportunities to have productive conversations that become pervasive and accepted parts of campus culture.
LASER: Lane After School Education with Reed
The partnership hopes to provide Lane students with otherwise unavailable classroom assistance, desired and consistent after-school classes, and one-on-one mentor relationships. Reed students are given the opportunity to gain valuable firsthand teaching experience while forging and sustaining important connections with the greater Portland community.
Multicultural Resource Center
There is a discussion and general announcements mailing list for members of the Multicultural Resource Center that you can sign up on.
Queer Alliance
Queer Alliance is an all-inclusive organization dedicated to issues of sexuality and gender. There are weekly discussions and meetings, as well as movie nights, Drag Ball, and other activities. In addition, outside educators and entertainers are brought to campus.
Reed Association for South Asia (RASA)
Since Reed has no academic offerings in any department related to the social, political, cultural and economic conditions of South Asia, RASA endeavors to fill that gap in essence, and generate awareness about the region amongst the Reed community. RASA is open to all members of the Reed community who wish to see the expansion of the college curriculum.
Reed Student Peace Action Network
The Reed chapter of the Student Peace Action Network (RSPAN) works, through a diversity of tactics including symbolic as well as concrete action, to confront, discover, expose, and fight against the root causes of war and repression, which include U.S. foreign policy and imperialism, racism, and corporate globalization. Concerning these issues, we attempt to educate ourselves and the Reed community, facilitate on- and off-campus action by Reed students, and create inclusive community and networking.
