Mission and Programs
Mission
The NorthWest Academic Computing Consortium comprises colleges, universities, and other non-profit organizations in the Pacific Northwest and nearby areas. Founded in 1987, NWACC's mission is to foster communication and collaboration among its member institutions on the development and use of advanced technology for instruction, research, and administrative operations.
Programs
NWACC's current programs include:
- Technology Law, Policy, and Economics: Bi-annual CIO Summits, issue alerts, template sharing, and other activities designed to improve member institutions' ability to address legal, regulatory, and financial challenges relating to technology.
- Network and Information Security: Network security staff workshops, vulnerability scanning and analyses, expert presentations, best practice sharing, and other collaborative activities designed to enhance network and information security profiles at member institutions.
- Hugi Excellence Award: Annual recognition of outstanding practices in educational, research, and administrative uses of information technology at member institutions.
- Hot Topics: Periodic workshops, white papers, and other activities designed to advance member institutions' readiness to address urgent information technology issues in higher education as they arise.
