Project Overview
The general goal of this project is to enhance network security capabilities at NWACC member institutions by developing an inter-institutional “network security team.” The team will be made up of representatives from NWACC colleges and universities who are involved with (or in charge of) network security for their campuses. In the first phase of the project (2006) NWACC will partner with a vendor or other external organization to provide in-depth formal training to staff. The goal of the training is to develop guidelines, tools, and increased expertise for network security assessment and vulnerability reduction strategies. In a second phase of the project (FY2007), NWACC will work with the external partner to conduct controlled intrusions and vulnerability assessments and to identify appropriate threat reduction and resolution strategies.
