Orientation 2009
Orientation Odysseys
You've read Homer's Iliad this summer and now you have a chance to choose your own odyssey. While orientation odysseys are optional, we highly recommend that you attend one to further enrich your orientation experience. Options include outdoor, SEEDS community service, international orientation, and the Peer Mentor retreat. These all require pre-registration!
Outdoor Odysseys - Friday August 21-25
Outdoor odysseys include backpacking trips, river rafting trips, hiking and surfing trip, rock climbing trips, and a combination trip based at the Reed ski cabin. View more information on the trips, including descriptions, costs, and arrival information.
SEEDS Community Service Odysseys - Friday August 21-24
The community service trips focus on topics such as education and youth, community development, hunger and housing, and cycling. View more information on the trips, including descriptions, costs, and arrival information.
Peer Mentor Program retreat - Monday August 24-25
Reed's Peer Mentor Program offers a resource for students who are interested in connecting with upper-class students, through engaging in dialogue about racial, ethnic, and economic diversity, along with intersecting dynamics such as religion, sexual orientation, and gender. Students who have signed up for this program are invited to attend a one-day retreat the day before orientation, where they will meet their mentors, along with returning students, staff, and faculty members.
International Orientation Odyssey - Friday August 21-25
International students. We have a program uniquely designed to allow time for you to adjust to jet lag, get to know campus, and learn about issues specific to you. View more information about this program, including a schedule of events.
