I look forward, this year, to gaining more experience in my new position of Assistant Dean, as well as traveling and pursing other personal interests!

Resident Directors

Working to assist the House Advisers in everything they do are 6 Resident Directors (RDs). RDs are full-time professional staff members who work and live on campus. RD's provide support for the house advisers, are advocates for students concerns, and help students experiencing difficulties at Reed. They provide emergency on-call coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week when school is in session.
Jonathan Gonzales, RD for the RCAs, BWs & the Language Houses
Jonathan Gonzales Hello from Reed! My name is Jonathan and I am the Resident Director for the Archipelago area group, which is comprised of the RCA and Birchwood apartments, and the five Language Houses (Spanish, French, German, Russian and Chinese). This is my first year at Reed and I am very excited to call the Northwest home! I am originally from the small town of Santa Paula, California (which is located somewhere between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara). I attended California Lutheran University where I earned my B.A. in Communication and my Master's in Counseling and Guidance with a specialization in College Student Personnel. I spent the last three years at Cal Lu where I was an academic counselor, assistant director of the advising center and was also involved with new student orientation and developing various programs. I LOVE music and enjoy going to shows to see my favorite bands (who are typically the opening band). I also enjoy spending my free time with friends, reading, being artsy with a camera, watching indie films and exploring new places.
Dana Bays, RD for Naito & Sullivan
Dana Bays Hi!  My name is Dana and I am the Resident Director for Naito and Sullivan Halls.  I grew up in the Portland area but just made the move to Reed from San Antonio, Texas.  I went to college at Trinity University in San Antonio and graduated with a degree in Art History.  I then pursued a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration at the University of Texas at San Antonio.  I’m excited to be back in Portland and to be working at Reed College.  In my free time I enjoy traveling, yoga, music, reading, dining out, and hanging out with my dog, Rosco.  Come visit Rosco and I in Naito - we would love to meet you!

Rosanna Duran Hi Everyone! My name is Rosanna and I'm the Resident Director for Cross Canyon.  I am originally from Queens, New York and in my early teens moved to Florida.  My family is from the Dominican Republic, where my parents and most of my extended family reside.  I attended the University of South Florida in Tampa where I majored in Psychology and minored in Sociology and Latin American and Caribbean Studies.  After a couple of years of working in Student Affairs, I decided I wanted to make it my career and received my M.Ed. in College Student Affairs also from USF (Go Bulls!).  I'm happy to now be at Reed and excited about getting to know the students and staff here.  Being from NY, I am a huge Yankees and Giants fan!  I also enjoy watching USF Bulls football. Besides keeping track of my favorite teams, I enjoy reading, cooking, concerts, traveling, yoga, and getting to know Portland.
Drew White, RD for Foster, Scholz & MacNaughton
Drew White Hailing originally from South Carolina, Drew White received his passion for sweet tea at an early age. He grew up in the city of Greenville, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  He developed a love for the outdoors and found himself gravitating to the mountains. Drew loves nature, so he moved to the mountains to pursue a Business degree from the University of North Greenville. After graduation he was unsettled and decided to head west and explore other lands. After making a few trips to the northwest he decided to pack up the wagon and move there. On his way west he made a brief stop in Central Texas and grabbed a Master of Divinity degree from Baylor University.  After 5 years, he continued his travel through the Lone Star state in pursuit of the Northwest.  After 32 hours of driving through unfamiliar land, Drew arrived in Portland. He now calls Reed home and looks forward to riding his bike in this bike friendly town. Drew anticipates sharing coffee, pancakes, or even caramels with some of you.   In his spare time Drew spends significant time outside and is an avid moviegoer.
