Residence Life

On-campus Housing

All completed applications will be reviewed by department faculty, Language Scholars, and Language House Advisers. They will determine which applicants will be placed into the house. Additionally, all applicants MUST attend one of several language house informational meetings to be held in early April. Applicants who do not attend an informational meeting will not be considered for placement in one of the language houses. If you're currently studying abroad, and therefore cannot attend an informational meeting, contact David Rivera,  the language house RD.

Language House Responsibilities

Language houses are different from other residence halls on campus. In such a close-knit community, communication and teamwork are essential. Residents will meet weekly to plan, organize, and attend activities. These events support the mission of the Language House by generating interest and awareness of the language and the social, political, and cultural impact of the language-speaking countries within the student body.

Here is a list of Language House activities that you will work as a team to plan and/or participate in. It is an unique and rewarding experience and will require a time commitment every week.

  • Eagerness to improve language skills
  • Semester, campus-wide cultural event
  • Bringing performers and speakers to campus
  • Weekly to monthly weekend open to the community house events
  • Weekly Language Dinner table
  • Weekly Movie Nights
  • Attending weekly house meetings
  • Prompt communication with HA and other house members

If you have any questions please feel free to email the RD for the language houses.

Note: All Language House applicants--these houses are used during winter break to provide housing for international students. Your room may be used by another student over break.
