The SEEDS office (Students for Education, Empowerment, and Direct Service) brings together students, faculty, staff, and alumni who support community efforts to bring about social change. Matching individual and group interests with local, national, and international opportunities to serve others, SEEDS offers students a chance to join others and actively take part in issues of importance to them.

LASER is looking to hire interns for the spring semester – as an intern, you work with a teacher at Lane Middle School to help out in his or her classroom for an hour or two, once a week. The work varies, but often interns work closely with students, helping them comprehend material, check their work, and pay attention in class. For more informatin and an application, contact Hannah. Interested in making a difference this summer? Applications are now available for the McGill Lawerence Internship Award, an opportunity offered only to Reed students (graduating seniors may also apply). Recipiants are awarded $3,750 for full-time engagment in a summer internship. Application deadline is Monday, March 1, at noon. The first SEEDS trip of the semester is on Saturday, Februrary 27th. We will be visiting Tryon Life Community Farm for a chance to not only get our hands dirty but to learn their philosohy of integrating human habitation with the preservation of native ecosystems.
