International Volunteering Roundtable
Tuesday, February 20 from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm in Vollum 110.
Thinking about volunteering abroad? Join us for a conversation with students and faculty who have volunteered in Eastern Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia. We'll talk about the pros and cons of working with a program or arranging a placement yourself, things to know before you go, and how to get the most out of an international volunteering experience. International volunteering, work, and travel are complicated and won't have all the answers. However, we'll introduce you to the practical realities, we'll let you know where to look for answers and give you the chance to hear from Reedies who have been there
Guests include:
Maria Cuellar - Asia (Unite for Sight in Thailand)
Robin Fink- Latin America (Ecuador Service Project) - tentative
Dan Walker - Africa (McGill Lawrence Award in Ethiopia)
Associate Professor of Sociology Alexandra Hrycak - Eastern Europe (Ukraine)
