Project Eye-to-Eye
The 2005-2006 school year saw the start of a mentoring program to match Reed students who identify as learning disabled or ADHD with students in the special education program at a local middle school. During the 2009-2010 school year, we will be working with Grout Elementary School, a short walk from the Reed Campus. The goal of this program is twofold: to provide learning disabled students at Reed with a positive mentoring and teaching experience, and to provide learning disabled school children with a mentor who understands the particular challenges they face as a member of the learning disabled community. If you're interested in becoming a mentor, talk to the Reed student coordinators. You can also read more on the national Project Eye-to-Eye website. Mentoring qualifies for the off-campus federal work study internship program.
