Environmental Service and Education
This year we're again working with Portland Parks and Recreation's Environmental Education program to do a variety of service projects ranging from restoration to helping city kids discover nature. Our contact, Sue Thomas, is a Reed alumna who knows the parks like the back of her hand.
Last year, we aslo we worked with other local and national environmental groups including the Sierra Club and the Portland Audubon Society.
If any of the following applies to you, I bet you'll love working with us:
- Your future career plans involve kids, restoration, city planning, education, or environmental work.
- You are a Biology major in search of a thesis idea and may want to work within the Parks.
- You have never been to Oaks Bottom or Oaks Crossing.
- You would consider working for PP&R.
- Making a tangible difference that you can see makes you happy.
- You like celebrations (like Earth Day).
- You think working outside is fun.
- You like wildlife.
- You would like to meet Reedies and "outsiders" interested in this kind of volunteerism.
- You're down with free lunch!
- You want to do something good for the Portland community and show them that Reedies care.
