Kids for Kids
Kids for Kids will resume in Spring semester of 2009.
Kids for Kids was started in 2000 by Nancy Van Prooyen, a Reed
alumna. She wanted to bring cultural crafts to the hospital to add a
bit of variety to thesterility of hospital life. Working in conjunction
with a community partner, Kids for Kids brings a variety of fun
cultural projects to school-aged patients. Once a week for two hours,
Reedies aid hospital patients in creating crafts that are researched
and planned by other members in the volunteer group. Volunteer duties
include time commitment and craft planning. It's an exciting
opportunity to serve the community through play. I can't think of a
more enjoyable way to spend a Saturday morning! This program qualifies
for the off-campus federal work study internship program.
