Below is a sampling of some of the health care related volunteer opportunities known to SEEDS and career services. Openings are sometimes limited and trainings may only be offered once or twice a year. Plan ahead to ensure that the opportunity you like to engage in fits with your schedule.

Clinics-Community Based Health Services


Alzheimer’s Association

Supports research on Alzheimer’s disease, promotes education and legislation to aid people affected by the disease, and provides a phone help-line for caregivers or family members. They need volunteers to staff the help-line weekdays for half-day shifts; this position requires a longer-term commitment due to the training needed.  Volunteers will gain much knowledge about Alzheimer’s disease, as well as practicing skills of empathy and providing information.


Blue Heaven Riding Academy

Blue Heaven is a therapeutic horseback riding program for people of all ages with a variety of conditions, including autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, learning or language disabilities, or stroke history.  Past volunteers have participated in Saturday classes.  Previous experience with horses is preferred but not required.
