Derailed from an academic career studying medieval church architecture and archeology by the lure of whitewater kayaking in Oregon, Minott now works for Metro, the Portland area regional government, specializing in GIS (Geographical Information Systems -computerized mapping and geographical analysis).
In addition to boating, biking or hiking, in his free time he collects stove-top espresso and coffee makers, one of which he selects to bring for overnight kayak trips to insure there will be coffee strong enough to stun an ox.
