As Ultimate Frisbee has grown in popularity around the world, Reed College has followed suit with two teams of its own. Just as the sport is relatively young, so too are Reed’s club teams. The men’s team—the Berserk—has been around for just less than ten years, and the women’s team—Booty—will celebrate its third year of existence in 2006.

ultimate teamUltimate is a wonderful game in a great community. Students who have never played ultimate are encouraged to come out and experience the game for themselves. Most players on the men’s and women’s teams have never touched a disc before coming to Reed, but quickly learn how fun the game can be. We compete in the Northwest, the toughest region in the nation, playing six to ten tournaments a year. Both teams meet twice a week for practice on campus. Come out and discover for yourself: This game is the ultimate!

Ultimate PE Class

The Ultimate Frisbee PE Class is a comprehensive introduction to the sport of Ultimate. Combining the non-stop movement and athletic endurance of soccer and the aerial passing skills of football with the defensive skills of basketball, the game of Ultimate is played by two seven-player squads with a high-tech plastic disc on a field similar to football. In the 1st and 3rd quarters of the school year the course commences with beginning level instruction on the basic skills and strategy necessary to the sport. In the 2nd and 4th quarters the course covers intermediate to advanced skill sets as well as more advanced strategy. The PE course times coincide with the Reed College Women’s Ultimate Frisbee Club Team’s practices, thus combining varied levels of experience and opportunity for further play and inter-collegiate competition. We welcome anyone interested in the sport of Ultimate to come try it out- no experience necessary!
