Women's Rugby

Coach: Valerie "Val" Burns

Reed has fielded a women's rugby team consistently since the mid-eighties, introducing the sport (and for some "sport") to several generations of Reedies. The team competes throughout the northwest and despite playing against much larger universities Reed has enjoyed success. The women's team has been league champions and competed in the national playoffs. Over its existence the team has produced many Pacific Coast All-Stars, 5 All-Americans and two Eagles (US National Team players). In certain circles the team is known as the badass sparkle princesses.

Rugby offered at Reed is arguably the most competitive sport at the college. We play PAC 12 and D1 schools such as UW, WSU, WOU, WWU, and CWU. If you were a competitive athlete in High school and looking to keep that going, we are the place for you!

Gear needed for rugby is soccer cleats and mouth guard. Normal workout attire

We practice Tuesdays and Thursdays 5-7 with games on Saturdays.
