Lottery Macs for Students
The Deal
For a non-refundable $50 fee, you can borrow a 13" Macbook for the duration of the academic year or until you graduate, whichever happens first. Each Macbook computer comes with MS Office, Thunderbird (mail), Firefox (web), Norton Antivirus and other software. The laptops also have built in Airport Extreme Wireless, ethernet, CD/CD-R/DVD drive, 4G RAM, and 250GB hard drive, all safely tucked into a carrying case.
The Rules
To be eligible for a Lottery Mac, you must either be a thesising senior, or a student currently on financial aid. Also, so that we can make these computers available to those most in need, students who already own a working computer are not eligible to enter the lottery.
Still interested? You'll need to complete a Lottery Application Form and turn it in to any of these places: IRC Help Desk, Computer Hardware Shop (ETC 114) or the Computer Store (ETC 116). The Application must be turned in no later than Wednesday, September 17th. Names will be drawn in a properly conducted lottery.
If you are a winner, you must come up with the $50 fee. You will get to sign an Equipment Loan Contract that basically states you’ll be good to the computer and you’ll give it back on time and in good working form.
